Don't want to make a lantern but want to participate in the event and support the cause of creating
a fund to help pay for arts supplies for local students? Great. We're happy to deliver you a ready-to-use lantern, one which you can adorn at home (or not) however you see fit. Add a favorite team logo,
an image of your pet, color paper streamers in your college or high school colors—anything that
lets a little light shine through and adds some pizazz to your lantern. It's up to you!
Lanterns will be available for purchase ($5-$10)
at these local markets and festivals in February and March.
Riverside Arts Market, Feb. 10 and Mar. 17
Family Foodie Fare, The Glass Factory, Feb. 25
Jacksonville Science Festival, Friendship Fountain, Mar. 3
Downtown Art Walk, Mar. 7
Fun 4 First Coast Kids Fest, Baseball Grounds, Mar. 11
GastroFest, Hemming Park, Mar. 24
Of course, there are plenty of online sources that sell lanterns of all kinds. However, purchasing them
through us means you are shopping locally, and your money stays in Jax. For every dollar spent with us we will make a donation to the cause. So, while ours will be a little more expensive, the extra contribution directly benefits Jacksonville's artistic future and our kids. And who wouldn't want to help with that, right?
NOTE: As per Florida Statute 791.02, lanterns with live flames are not permitted.
Only battery-operated lanterns will be allowed in the parade.
No lanterns of any kind will be released during this event.
In addition, we invite the most generous among you to purchase lanterns for others to use. Lantern Parade organizers will be coordinating with area schools to donate lanterns for kids who may not have the means to make or buy one of their own. If you would like to donate lanterns to a class, school or organization, please contact us by clicking here.
